Mcneil Instruments a manufacturer, supplier, and exporter of gauge cock valve offers both offset and straight pattern valves designed to isolate the gage chamber from the liquid contents within the vessel. Offset valves provide the advantage of facilitating easy cleaning of the interior of the gage glass with minimal disassembly required. By removing the vent and drain plugs (or similar connections), a direct passage through the gage chamber is accessible. This configuration allows for the insertion of a brush through the valve vent and drain for efficient glass cleaning.

In order to prevent rapid fluid loss in the event of accidental glass breakage, Mcneil Instruments equips its valves with automatic ball check shut-off mechanisms. In the event of glass breakage, the pressure drop prompts the ball checks to seat, preventing the loss of tank contents. To facilitate liquid level readings, the tip of the valve stem features an extension that pushes the ball away from its seat, allowing the gage column to fill as liquid contents flow around the ball. Stainless steel retainers are employed to prevent reverse seating of the balls or their loss during installation.

Each set of valves, whether upper or lower, is equipped with horizontal ball checks, with the balls positioned on the vessel side of the valve seat.For compliance with ASME boiler requirements, Mcneil Instruments offers valves with omitted ball checks. Alternatively, to meet these requirements, the lower valve can be equipped with an optional vertical rising ball check situated in the offset portion of the valve body, while the upper valve features a leaky seat.
